Border Patrol suspects the five Cuban migrants who landed on Key
Biscayne on Tuesday morning were smuggled.

The group abandoned their boat at Bill Baggs State Park and wandered to
The Ritz Carlton at 455 Grand Bay Dr., said Border Patrol Division Chief
Sgt. Todd Bryant.

When agents interview migrants, they try to find out if anyone profited
from the migration or if the migrants owe anyone for the voyage, which
would make the movement human smuggling.

“That’s a terrible crime. It’s a crime against humanity,” Bryant said.
